Summer is Around the Corner, is Your Air Conditioner Ready?

Now that we’re finally out of the cold winter months, we can officially look forward to warmer temperatures and sunshine! Although you may not be able to fathom turning the AC on in your home just yet, it’s best to be prepared for the heat before you’re stuck sweltering inside. A few of the signs below can provide some insight as to whether or not you require an air conditioning repair or replacement.

Little to No Air Flow

Low levels of air flow are an indication that the ducts aren’t working properly in your home. This may be a sign that something has gotten stuck within them, making it difficult to properly filter the air. This can result in polluted air circulating throughout your rooms.

Broken Thermostat

Although not an issue directly related to the air conditioning system, a broken thermostat needs to be resolved in order keep your energy bills down. When a thermostat isn’t reading properly, it sends misinformation to the inverter, resulting in your air conditioning system working harder than it needs to.

Refrigerant Leak

If you’ve noticed unpleasant sounds or odors, as well as warm air coming from your air conditioning system, it may be leaking refrigerant. Another indication is if your evaporator coil has frozen over. When this happens, cold air can’t be properly transferred, resulting in your HVAC system overworking to try and reach the desired temperature. This can drive up your energy bills.

Drain Tube Issue

Water pooling around your AC system may not be refrigerant, and instead could be a drainage issue. If left untreated, this can lead to premature rusting of your system. Mold could also begin to grow as a result.

In order to avoid these problems from arising in the midst of the summer heat, it’s best to start checking for these issues now. The team at N. B. Rogers Inc can inspect your system and effectively diagnose the problem, ultimately deciding if an air conditioning repair is necessary, or if there are other measures that could be taken (e.g. cleaning the filter).
